The Six Pillar Method

A structured, evidence-based approach to improving the health markers most closely linked to long-term wellbeing.

The Six Pillar Method combines nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management and lifestyle habits into a practical, personalised plan built around your blood results.

Rather than relying on generic advice, every intervention is designed to target the factors most likely to influence your cholesterol, triglycerides, blood sugar control, body composition and overall health.

Typical improvements clients work towards include lower cholesterol, improved blood sugar control, reduced abdominal fat, increased strength, better energy and greater confidence in their health.

Why single-lever interventions fail

Most people who arrive here have already tried the obvious solutions: a better diet, more exercise, cutting back on alcohol or following the latest health trend. Yet the blood test often comes back with the same concerns.

The reason is simple. Metabolic health is rarely driven by a single factor.

Blood sugar control, cholesterol levels, body composition, recovery and energy are influenced by multiple interconnected systems. Improving one area while ignoring the others often leads to limited or short-lived results.

The Six Pillar Method addresses all six simultaneously, with every recommendation tailored to your blood markers, lifestyle and goals.

The Six Pillars

Each pillar targets a specific mechanism. All six operate together.

01

Fuel

Food influences far more than body weight. It affects blood sugar regulation, cholesterol levels, energy, appetite and long-term metabolic health. The Fuel pillar focuses on improving the quality, quantity and timing of nutrition using a personalised approach built around your blood results, lifestyle and goals.

Research Basis

DiRECT trial (Taylor & Lean, 2018): low-calorie dietary intervention achieved HbA1c remission in 46% of participants at 12 months. Underpins our low-carbohydrate and time-restricted eating protocols.

02

Move

Skeletal muscle is the body’s largest glucose sink. When it contracts, it absorbs blood glucose independently of insulin, making targeted movement one of the most direct levers available for improving HbA1c. The Move pillar combines resistance training and primarily low-intensity cardiovascular activity designed specifically for midlife metabolic health.

Research Basis

Multiple randomised controlled trials (2003–2020) confirm resistance training reduces insulin resistance (measured by HOMA-IR) in adults with prediabetes. Muscle mass is inversely correlated with Type 2 diabetes risk.

03

Sleep

Sleep is where recovery happens. Poor sleep can affect hunger, energy, stress levels, blood sugar control and the body’s ability to respond positively to exercise and nutrition. The Sleep pillar focuses on improving both sleep quantity and quality, helping create the conditions for better health markers and better daily performance.

Research Basis

Adults sleeping under 6 hours consistently show elevated HbA1c and impaired glucose tolerance (Tsai & Thomas, Diabetes Care, 2012). A single night of poor sleep elevates cortisol the following day to a degree equivalent to acute stress exposure.

04

Stress

Stress is not just a mental experience; it has a direct impact on the body’s physiology. Chronic stress can disrupt blood sugar regulation, recovery, sleep quality and decision-making around food and exercise. The Stress pillar helps identify the sources of unnecessary strain and introduces practical strategies to improve resilience and recovery.

Research Basis

Chandola et al., BMJ (2006). Whitehall II cohort study: chronic work stress doubles the risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, independent of lifestyle factors. HPA axis dysregulation is a primary mechanism in prediabetes among adults in demanding careers.

05

Connect

Long-term health is influenced by more than food and exercise alone. Strong relationships, social connection and a sense of purpose are consistently linked to better physical and mental health outcomes. The Connect pillar encourages the habits and relationships that support long-term wellbeing and sustainable behaviour change.

Research Basis

Harvard Study of Adult Development (Waldinger, 2015). 80-year longitudinal study: social connection is the single strongest predictor of long-term health and longevity. The Roseto Effect (Bruhn & Wolf, 1979) demonstrated community cohesion directly reduced cardiac mortality, independent of diet.

06

Reduce Harm

Many of the behaviours that quietly undermine health become normalised over time. Excess alcohol, chronic overwork, poor recovery habits and excessive screen time can all negatively affect blood sugar control, cholesterol and energy levels. The Reduce Harm pillar focuses on identifying the factors having the greatest negative impact and making targeted changes where they will matter most.

Research Basis

Alcohol directly elevates serum triglycerides and disrupts hepatic lipid metabolism; even moderate intake (>14 units/week) measurably alters the inflammatory and lipid profile and blunts the response to dietary intervention (Rimm et al., BMJ, 1999).

What you eat changes your blood.
We measure the change.

The Method Works Because It Measures

The Six Pillars are not a coaching philosophy. They are a structured framework guided by objective data.

Your programme begins with a baseline blood panel, uses Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) to provide real-time insight into your body’s response to food and lifestyle factors, and finishes with repeat blood testing to measure progress.

Every decision is informed by evidence, not assumption.

Baseline Blood Panel + Design

Long-term blood sugar control (HbA1c), a full cholesterol profile and triglycerides establish your baseline and identify the markers with the greatest opportunity for improvement.

Your nutrition, exercise and lifestyle strategy is then built around improving the markers most relevant to you.

CGM Integration

Continuous Glucose Monitoring provides a live view of how your body responds to specific foods, meal timing, exercise, sleep and stress.

Many clients are surprised to discover that foods they consider healthy produce significant glucose spikes. The data removes guesswork and allows further refinement to your programme.

.

Targeted Nutrition

This is not a generic meal plan.

Your nutrition strategy is built around your blood results, lifestyle, preferences and goals, using macro and micronutrient dietary approaches known to support improvements in blood sugar regulation, cholesterol management and body composition.

Final Blood Panel + Review

The programme concludes with repeat blood testing and a structured before-and-after review.

This allows you to see exactly how your markers have changed, where the biggest improvements have occurred and which habits are most important to maintain moving forward.
